Webinar: Breast Skills for Nurses and Midwives

This webinar explores the important role of nurses and midwives in the early detection of breast cancer, regardless of their workplace setting.

Presented by Dr Hannah Sexton, this webinar aims to enhance understanding of breast health, breast cancer and other breast pathology, thereby feeling empowered to educate and advocate for their patients.

Topics covered include basic breast anatomy, breast screening/density, breast cancer, clinical assessment and documentation for nurses, facilitating timely referrals and exploring case studies.

Course Details

Participants will:

  • develop knowledge on breast screenings and the significance of breast density
  • learn an overview of breast cancer – risk factors, signs, symptoms and common breast conditions
  • improve skills in history taking, breast examination and documentation for nurses and the subsequent referral process

Dr Hannah Sexton

Hannah is an Adelaide-based GP who has a special interest in women’s health, sexual and reproductive health.  She currently works across three locations – SHINE SA, BreastScreen SA and the CSIRO.
