Sexual & Reproductive Health for International Medical Graduates

This is a 2-day course for Medical Practitioners with limited experience in Sexual and Reproductive Health in Australia. The course aims to provide an intensive update in contraception, STI screening, cervical screening and other sexual health topics. There is a strong focus on clinical skills.

Course Outline

The course will involve an online pre-reading module and a 2-day workshop .

The course aims to provide increased knowledge and confidence in managing patients with a range of sexual and reproductive health issues.

There is also the option of attending an observation clinic at SHINE SA for doctors with current AHPRA registration and medical indemnity insurance.

Below is an example of the course outline. Each year’s course may vary slightly.

Communication and history taking

Long Acting Reversible Contraception*

Sexual dysfunction

Prudent practice in cervical screening

Sex and the law

Day 2

Oral contraception

Sexually transmitted infections

Common gynaecology

*Please note: while Intra-Uterine Devices (IUDs) and contraceptive implants are covered as a topic in this course, this does not include IUD or implant insertion training. For further information go to IUD Insertion Training and Implanon NXT Insertion Training.

40 RACGP QI & CPD points  (Category 1) are applicable to this course.

$1030: 2-day theory course (includes a copy of Contraception: an Australian clinical practice handbook)

$150: Observation Clinic
Only applicable upon completion of the theory course within the last 12 months
