Pregnancy Choices Training

This 2-day course defines and explains all the options available to people experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.

The course is open to nurses, midwives, doctors, counsellors, community health workers, school counsellors, youth workers, Aboriginal Health Workers and any professional who may work with clients with unplanned pregnancy.

Course Outline

The course covers broad social and political issues and clinical options, incorporating cultural considerations into topics and resources.

  • Global, national and local views of unplanned pregnancy
  • Social and political context of unplanned pregnancy and women’s choices

    • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander perspective
    • Culturally & Linguistically Diverse perspective

  • Perinatal Mental Health
  • Support programs for parenting

  • Counselling responses to unplanned pregnancy
