Working with the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer communities

At SHine SA we aim to:

  • strengthen partnerships and networks with gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (GLBTIQ) people, communities and organisations
  • consult with and seek feedback from the GLBTIQ communities to assist in identifying the services and support to be provided by SHine SA
  • involve GLBTIQ people in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and projects which focus on early intervention, prevention and community education
  • provide appropriate and accessible sexual health services and education
  • provide education to workers about the multiple effects that homophobia has on the sexual health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people
  • continue to support specific community events that contribute to the health and wellbeing of GLBTIQ people
  • work with GLBTIQ people in advocating for equal rights and opportunities, particularly in relation to issues of safety, status of relationships and access to services
