Courses for teachers
SHine SA conducts teacher training courses for teachers, exploring what makes an effective program for students, current thinking about best practice in relationships and sexual health education, and classroom strategies for teachers of students in Years 6-10.

Relationships and Sexual Health Education Network
Members of the network will receive emails about new resources, professional development opportunities, latest statistics, relevant journal articles, forums/updates for teachers on relevant topics and information on current issues.

Focus Schools
The Focus Schools Program builds on the success of the share Project (2003-2005) and aims to improve the sexual health, safety and wellbeing of young South Australians by supporting schools to develop a whole school approach to relationships and sexual health education.
The targets for the Focus Schools Program continue to focus on the four domains of:
- young people
- parents and families
- school staff
- school environment

Aboriginal Focus Schools Program
The Aboriginal Focus Schools Program (funded through the National Indigenous Partnerships), based on the best practice Focus Schools Program, aims to increase the capacity of principals, teachers, Anangu Education Workers, Aboriginal Community Education Officers, parents and school communities in the targeted schools to promote and improve the relationship and sexual health literacy and wellbeing of school students in Years 5, 6 & 7 and Years 8, 9 & 10.
It will achieve this through:
- development of age and culturally appropriate curriculum
- training and support for teachers, Anangu Education Workers and Aboriginal Community Education Officers
- development of culturally appropriate resources
- parent programs
Pregnancy Choices Training
This course, developed for professionals, defines and explains all the options available to women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. It is open to nurses, doctors, counsellors, community health workers, school counsellors, youth workers, indigenous health workers, and any professional who encounters clients with unplanned pregnancy.

Healthy Young Parents in Education (HYPE)
Healthy Young Parents in Education (HYPE) is an initiative of SHine SA in partnership with the Department of Education and Children's Services. This innovative project aimed to improve the educational, social and physical health and wellbeing outcomes for teenage mothers and their infants through increasing school retention and social inclusion.
The project had six distinctive arms:
- research
- identifying inter-agency pathways
- documenting curriculum pathway options
- developing a resource for pregnant teenagers
- developing a resource for agencies
- developing a whole of school package
