Homophobia workshop
A special workshop conducted by SHine SA
SAFETY IN OUR SCHOOLS: RESPONDING TO HOMOPHOBIA
'Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean they aren't there.'
Did you know that Australian national research shows that 8-11% of young people are not exclusively heterosexual.
A national report on sexuality, health and wellbeing of same-sex attracted young people (2004) found that:
- 15% had been physically abused
- 44% had been verbally abused
- 74% of this abuse happened at school.
Safety in our schools: responding to homophobia is a training program looking at the impact of homophobia on same-sex attracted young people and how a whole school approach to reducing homophobia can make a difference.
Contact SHine SA on (08) 8300 5317 if you are interested in having a course run in your school.
