The library at Woodville has a unique collection of medical, social and educational books and journals on sexual health.


The Library contains information on a wide range of subjects including:

  • Aboriginal sexual health issues
  • adolescent sexual health and relationships 
  • contraception
  • disability and sexuality 
  • gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender issues
  • men's health
  • multicultural issues
  • sexual assault and child sexual abuse
  • sex education
  • sexually transmitted infections
  • women's health

SHine SA's online database is available to search all the books and audiovisual items available in the library from your workplace or home so you can see if we have what you need.

Current Awareness Service

A bi-monthly Current Awareness Service is produced by the Library and Resource Centre. It consists of lists of new books, new articles and new resources.

Locations

The main library is located at Woodville, with smaller collections at SHine SA's locations in the north and south.

Main library: 64c Woodville Road, Woodville
North: 43 Peachey Road, Davoren Park
South: 19-23 Beach Road, Christies Beach

 

Library membership

Membership is free for South Australians at any of our locations. People from rural areas of South Australia may contact the SHine SA Library by phone on 1800 188 171 (toll free) or email SHineSALibrary@health.sa.gov.au to join.

 

Opening hours

  • 9.30am to 4.30pm weekdays
  • if you have special research needs it's best to make an appointment with the Librarian

Borrowing and returning

Please note that journals are not availble for loan but may be photocopied in the library.

Conditions for borrowing books and audiovisual items include:

  • loan period of 2 weeks (rural areas 4 weeks) 
  • extensions of loans by phone or email before the due date
  • materials may be returned to any SHine SA location during opening hours

People from rural areas of South Australia may have books sent directly to their home address. They will be responsible for returning their loan item by post.
